Virtually every design, detail, innovation and technological advancement
in the granular, poured-in-place, insulation market can be
attributed to the trade name Gilsulate®. The American
Gilsonite Company and American Thermal Products, Inc., the predecessor
manufacturers, were committed to continual improvement. We
are pleased that It continues today with Gilsulate International,
Inc. This commitment to continual improvement can be
demonstrated with 60+ year long track record of innovation and
technological advancement in the market. The achievements by
these forward thinking companies are too numerous to list.
We have managed to put together a list of just a few of them here. Virtually
all of the design details universally used today on engineers
drawings can be traced to The American Gilsonite Company and
American Thermal Products, Inc. Originally, poured-in-place
products were sold by the ton. The American Gilsonite
Company changed the unit of measure to cubic foot, which is
now the universal unit of measure. This allowed for easier
volume calculations in determining how much product was needed to
successfully complete a project. American Thermal Products, Inc.
first introduced the 1 cubic foot bag. Today, it remains the
only product that is packaged this way. American Thermal
Products, Inc. introduced installation instructions, including
pictures, on each one cubic foot bag it delivered to the
jobsite. It remains the only product on the market today
with the instructions each. Large projects demanded
better packaging options. The small bag packaging simply
took too much time to place when thousands of cubic feet were
needed to successfully complete a project. American Thermal
Products, Inc. introduced the semi-bulk bag in the 1980's to speed
the installation process up and make the Gilsulate® 500XR
insulation system the most cost effective product available. The semi-bulk bag contains 60
cubic feet and remains the largest installation delivery system on
the market, nearly twice as much as competitive products.
This kind of commitment to maintaining a leadership position in
the market means your installation will be completed in the most
efficient means available. American Thermal Products, Inc. moved
our industry into the computer age. In the mid 1980's they
began offering heat transfer calculations to provide their
customers with evidence of Gilsulate 500XR's high thermal
efficiency, typically a mean of 85%, heat loss for the
piping system and temperatures at the ditch wall, which is
important in determining placement of other temperature sensitive
utilities near the system. American Thermal Products, Inc. was
the first to provide envelope design and piping details for
AutoCAD. Independent test procedures to validate performance
and properties data have been a staple for these
companies. The innovation continues with Gilsulate
International, Inc. In the short time they have been
manufacturing the product, they saw a need to improve the
installation process through written instruction in
Spanish. Another first in this market. We
are proud to be associated Gilsulate International, Inc. and the predecessors
for their commitment to continual improvement. |
