Gilsulate® 500XR is an engineered product. It is the only patented granular insulation and protection system for underground piping and tanks ever available.

Gilsulate® 500XR has the largest installation delivery system available, a huge 60 cubic foot. Large projects demand it. This is nearly twice the volume of the closest competitors best packaging option of 34 cubic feet.

Gilsulate® 500XR will support 12,000 pounds per square foot. It is consolidated prior to backfill. It is the only granular product you can walk on after it is installed per recommended installation procedures. It will support the overburden soil, unaided, without sinking.

Gilsulate® 500XR

Gilsulate® 500XR is manufactured by Gilsulate International, Inc. and is headquartered in Santa Clarita, California.

Gilsulate® 500XR provides a seamless insulation and corrosion protection envelope for large pipes and multiple pipe configurations. This is a recent project for MacIntyre and Company. It is a major refinery that has Gilsulate® 500XR being installed around multiple large diameter pipes transferring oils of varying temperatures. See more pictures here.

This is an existing piping system at Dow Chemical Company, A building was taken out of service and torn down. The steam and condensate piping that serviced the building had to be disconnected from the main loop.

Gilsulate® 500XR is a thermal insulation and protection system for direct buried piping systems operating between 35° and 800° F. Applications include:

Gilsulate 500XR has an excellent load bearing property of 12,000 lbs. per s.f. As you can see, after consolidation, you can walk on it. This means that loading due to the soil overburden will not cause the envelope to settle or shrink. This is critical in assuring that any potential structure or roadway will not be subject to premature failure.
